Electrodeless Discharge lamps for atomic absorption spectrometers

High-Frequency Electrodeless Discharge lamps (HF EDLs) filled with different elements were developed for atomic absorption spectrometry in our laboratory. We have produced mono-element HF EDLs as well as multi-element EDLs.

Elements: Sn, Cd, Hg, Zn, Pb, As, Sb, Bi, Tl, In Se, Te and as well as

multi-element EDLs: Hg-Cd, Hg-Zn, Hg-Cd-Zn. Se-Te, In-Sb.

Dimensions:

Diameter Dx 1.5"(37.5mm), 1.65"(41mm), 2"(51mm)

Length 4.7"(119mm)

Dimensions of a HF EDL and a Hollow cathode lamp (HCL) are compared in the figure. The design of the HF EDLs allow them to be used in various types of atomic absorption spectrometers.

Power requirements: AC single-phase 110/240V 50/60Hz max 0.3A

Detection limits achievable in the Zeeman atomic absorption spectrometry using HF EDLs instead of Hollow cathode lamps are compared in the table.

Detection limits (DL) for different elements measured by Zeeman atomic absorption spectrometer MGA-915 using HF Electrodeless Discharge lamps (HFEDLs) lamps and Hollow cathode lamps (HCLs).
